ALA is a potent antioxidant that is able to neutralize free-radicals in both aqueous (water) and lipid (fat) portions of the cell and helps recycle other antioxidants such as vitamin C and E, and CoQ10. ALA prevents glycation (the binding of sugar molecules to protein) which creates free-radical factories in the body and causes cellular inflammation. ALA helps neutralize these free radicals to prevent the cellular inflammation. ALA also protects DNA (the cell's genetic instructions) and the mitochondria (the energy producing portion of the cell), controls cellular inflammation, increases cellular energy and vitality, and accelerates the removal of glucose from the bloodstream.
