ATP (adenosine triphosphate increases up to 500% with up to 500 microamperes. Between 1,000 and 5,000 micorampers ­ or 1 to 5 milliamperse ATP nose dives and at 5 milliamperes (used by TENS units) it drops below baseline control levels.

Amino-acid transport is increased by 30 to 40 percent above control levels using 100 to 500 microamps, however, currents exceeding 1,000 microamps (as those in TENS units) reduce amino isobutyric acid uptake by up to 73% and inhibite protein synthesis by 50%.

Only frequencies between 1 to 4 Hz band (the square wave) or lower (rectangular wave, exclusive to Perfector) promote the cellular healing response (Hefferman 1996; Adey 1992, 1993; Luben 1991; Becker 1990).
